The Writers Edition 2014 pays tribute to Daniel Defoe, an English writer, satirist and journalist best known for his novel "Robinson Crusoe" (1719), the story of a man who is shipwrecked and stranded alone on an island. Defoe is considered one of the pillars of the English novel and is at the origin of the realistic novel as a literary genre. The general form of the edition recalls the paddle with which Robinson Crusoe tried to escape from the desert island. The motif of the body recalls wood, while the attributes are inspired by the original cover of his masterpiece. The clasp evokes a bird's feather, in reference to the parrot, Robinson's faithful companion.
