Château d'Ivoire: A Legacy of Luxury

1978: A Vision Takes Root

In 1978, amidst the vibrant streets of Montreal, a dream materialized at 2020 rue de la Montagne. Brothers Suhail and Mounzer Kaidbey, having left Lebanon's political turmoil, founded Château d'Ivoire. Their initial concept—a boutique showcasing global treasures—quickly evolved as they attuned to their clientele's desires. Recognizing a demand for bespoke jewelry, the Kaidbeys immersed themselves in the art of jewelry-making, transforming their boutique into a haven for unique, handcrafted pieces.

The 1980s: Expansion and Prestige

The 1980s heralded an era of growth for Château d'Ivoire. As partnerships with esteemed brands like Cartier, IWC, Bulgari, and Rolex flourished, the boutique expanded its rue de la Montagne location. The renovated space, adorned with granite and crown moldings, housed gleaming vitrines displaying exquisite jewelry and timepieces. A second location in Rockland shopping center opened its doors, while a state-of-the-art jewelry atelier and watchmaking service center were established, elevating the boutique's offerings.

The 1990s: A Watch Enthusiast's Paradise

Château d'Ivoire's reputation soared in the 1990s, attracting prestigious watchmakers worldwide. Luxury brands such as Vacheron Constantin, Chopard, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Breguet, and Ulysse Nardin sought partnerships, solidifying the boutique's status as Montreal's premier destination for watch connoisseurs. This decade saw Château d'Ivoire become the city's sole retailer offering an unparalleled collection of exclusive timepieces under one roof.

The 2000s: Celebrating Growth and Legacy

As the new millennium dawned, Château d'Ivoire boasted partnerships with nearly 30 luxury brands. The Kaidbey brothers expanded once more, focusing their efforts on their iconic rue de la Montagne address. To mark their 25th anniversary and this significant expansion, they hosted an extravagant soirée, closing down the street for a night of culinary delights, Cirque du Soleil performances, and music. This period also welcomed the second generation of Kaidbeys into the family business, ensuring the continuation of their legacy.

The 2010s and Beyond: A Modern Renaissance

In 2018, Château d'Ivoire embarked on its most ambitious project yet—unifying its three-building expanse into a cohesive, modern space. Led by Rana Kaidbey's design expertise and partnering with a renowned architectural firm, the renovation honored the boutique's rich history while introducing contemporary elements. Completed in 2024, this transformation was meticulously executed in two phases, allowing uninterrupted service to their discerning clientele.
