Although introduced by IWC in 1955, the Ingenieur watch family name is more frequently associated with Gerald Genta. During the 1970s, the legendary Geneva-born watchmaker created the Ingenieur SL, Reference 1832, detailing his artistic vision of a sporty luxury stainless steel watch with an integrated bracelet. The Ingenieur Automatic 40 embodies the bold aesthetic codes of the iconic Ingenieur collection design while meeting the highest standards of quality in ergonomics, finishing, and technology. The model features a stainless steel case, bezel, and integrated H-link bracelet with a folding clasp. All these elements boast delicate finishes, including polished and satin-finished surfaces. The ergonomics of the case and bracelet have been meticulously refined and improved down to the smallest detail. The 40 mm case and the new central lug ensure optimal wearing comfort, even on a slim wrist. The characteristic round bezel is screwed onto the retaining ring with five polygonal screws. The Aqua dial features the unique "Grid" structure, composed of fine lines intersecting at a 90-degree angle. The luminescent rhodium-plated hands and hour markers guarantee optimal legibility. Inside the case, the IWC-manufactured Calibre 32111 boasts a winding system that provides a 120-hour power reserve. In keeping with the Ingenieur's technical heritage, a soft-iron inner case protects the movement from magnetic fields. With water resistance increased to 10 bar and a newly designed crown guard, the Ingenieur Automatic 40 is an ultra-versatile, sporty luxury watch firmly rooted in the 21st century.
