Speedmaster First OMEGA in Space

On October 3, 1962, the Speedmaster CK 2998 became the first OMEGA watch worn in space when astronaut Walter Schirra wore his own model on the Mercury Program's Sigma 7 mission. This revisited version pays tribute to the pioneering watch and represents a modern interpretation of the 2^nd generation Speedmaster.

The 39.70 mm polished and brushed stainless steel case is fitted with a "flat links" bracelet featuring OMEGA's patented comfort adjustment system. The black aluminum bezel is equipped with the legendary tachymeter scale displaying the famous dot over 90.

Underneath the brand new hesalite crystal, the grey-blue dial is CVD-coated to replicate the tone of some 1960s CK 2998 watches. Like the vintage Super-LumiNova-coated hour and minute "Alpha" hands and indexes, the central "baton" seconds hand is varnished white and matches the decal markings. The watch features a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock, and a small seconds counter at 9 o'clock.

The dial is enhanced with a vintage OMEGA logo, as is the crown, while the case back features the famous hippocampus medallion and the engravings "THE FIRST OMEGA IN SPACE" and "OCTOBER 3, 1962".

The watch is powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer 3861 caliber, the latest version of the 321 caliber that accompanied astronauts into space. Each watch is presented in an exclusive box with a "LEGENDARY MOONWATCH" booklet inside.
