Performance and style for all your aquatic activities.
In the 1960s, the new sport of scuba diving was all the rage. For divers, timekeeping was everything. So Breitling set out to give them the cleanest, most accurate dive watch possible by eliminating all the functions that didn’t meet their vital needs underwater. This stripped-down watch was called the Slow Motion. All that remained were the clean lines, thick indexes with luminescent coating, square hands, and a contrasting dial ring to maximize readability. Practical, yes. But what everyone loved most was the style.
The new Superocean retraces the famous Slow Motion aesthetic codes by adding modern features, such as a ceramic inlaid bezel and brightly colored dials. The large hands and indexes with Super-LumiNova® luminescent coating facilitate readability underwater. The watch is water-resistant to 300 m (1000 ft) and is also resistant to shocks, sand and salt water. The bronze version is equipped with a special alloy with high corrosion resistance. However, a slight patina will appear over time and make the watch even more unique. Both strap options (rubber and metal) have a folding clasp that allows micro-adjustments to the nearest 15 mm for easier wear with thermal tops and diving suits. Its scratch-resistant ceramic inlaid bezel is resistant to wear and discoloration. For safety reasons, the bezel is unidirectional on most sizes, but bidirectional and equipped with a patented lock on the 46mm model.
Better yet, it’s no longer just a dive watch: you can surf, swim, go to the beach bar and then wear it to dinner. The Superocean is the perfect balance between the nostalgia of its heritage and the freshness of its new look.
