With the Masters of Art Hommage à Vincent van Gogh Limited Edition 4810, Montblanc celebrates Vincent van Gogh, one of the most popular painters of the late 19th century. This edition places particular emphasis on his stay in Arles, with details reminiscent of the Provençal wheat fields and one of his most famous paintings, Sunflowers.
The “1888” engraved on the body ring, next to Vincent’s bright orange signature, commemorates the year he settled in Arles. The body is dressed in shades of yellow and orange, reminiscent of the sunny landscapes of southern France, immortalized in the works of Van Gogh.
Van Gogh developed a more spontaneous and free style and mastered both the brush and the palette knife, which he used to create bold, thick impasto. The platinum clip is inspired by his palette knife, while the yellow lacquer at the top of the cap immortalizes his brushstrokes. In addition, the upper part of the clip is filled with yellow precious resin and is shaped like a pipe bowl, a subtle detail that recalls his love of pipe smoking, as evidenced in many of his self-portraits.
In homage to Vincent's fascination with traditional Japanese woodblock prints, the overall shape is inspired by a Japanese wood chisel while the cap is made of wood.
This edition is adorned with the Montblanc emblem in yellow precious resin.
