Born in 1850 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Robert Louis Stevenson yearned for two things: freedom and the opportunity to immerse himself in another world. He wrote essays, travelogues, and legendary adventure stories filled with iconic characters whose names send shivers down the spines of readers around the world: Long John Silver, Captain Flint, Jekyll and Hyde. The Montblanc Writers Edition Hommage à Robert Louis Stevenson box set celebrates this writer with a prolific imagination.
The novel Treasure Island inspired many of the details of this edition. The writing instrument and the rings of the cone form a whole that evokes an extendable historical telescope.
Their precious black resin bodies are decorated with engraved crosses, including a larger “X” indicating the location of the treasure on the map. Vertical lines recall the planks of the Hispaniola schooner, while the cap of the Writers Edition writing instruments is decorated with a traditional ship’s chest. Behind the platinum-plated clip in the shape of a mooring pin, to which a ship’s rigging rope is usually attached, the lines converge to form a compass rose. The top of the cap is crowned with the Montblanc emblem adorned with the skull and crossbones pirate symbol in its center. The cap ring bears Stevenson’s engraved signature as well as the publication date of his first work, The Pentland Rising, published in 1866. The dates of Robert Louis Stevenson’s life, 1850-1894, are engraved on the cap.
