The bridges, wheels, escapement, barrel, and other movement components, usually hidden beneath the dial, are here exposed on the mainplate. Another striking feature of the piece is the shock-absorbing guard positioned at 4 o'clock. This Breguet invention protects the balance staff from impacts. It is the precursor to the modern "Incabloc" and all other shock-protection systems.
